2017 goals

I know that we’re already a few weeks into the new year, but it’s taken me a little bit to decide what my goals are for 2017. Maybe one of my goals should be to stay more organized 😉 My family teases me because once I get something in my head, it’s full steam ahead. That’s not a bad quality to have. That becomes an issue when I get 6 things in my head and try to pursue them all at once. Thank goodness for Matt sitting me down to help me refocus. I really wanted to take time and think about what I want from this year. I thought I would share both personal goals and business goals with you.

  1. I would like to spend quiet time every day reading my Bible and praying. Even if it’s just 10 minutes. The bigger goal would be to have a longer quiet time, but with a little one constantly vying for my attention, I’ll settle for 10 minutes.
  2. Travel. I’m sure this comes as a surprise 😉 This goal tops my list every year. I’m a firm believer in experiences over things. We try to travel somewhere new every year. It doesn’t always happen, and it’s not always an extravagant trip, but we make sure to take time to reset, relax and explore somewhere new.
  3. Be more present. The last couple of years this has evaded me. With health issues, working long hours and just the hustle and bustle of life, I got into the habit of relying on technology when I had any down time. Whether that was watching a lot of Netflix, hours spend scrolling social media or falling asleep in front of the TV, I have been too dependent on my technology. My goal is to keep the TV off more than it’s on, to leave my phone in the other room when we’re having family time and to pick up a book when I have time to myself.
  4. Moving forward, my goal is to shoot a wedding out of the state and one out of the country each year. I pray as the years go on, that number grows just a touch, but for right now this is what I’m striving for.
  5. To be more intentional with my clients. I love being a photographer, and I hope that I can be more than just a person snapping photos and then moving on. I want my clients to feel they’ve made a new friend. I want them to have a good experience getting their photos taken.

Well there you have it, 5 goals for 2017. I’d love to hear some of your goals. Leave a comment if there’s a goal or big dream you have for this year 🙂
