cleaner beauty products

August 8, 2018

Alright, so I thought it’s about time I put pen to paper and share some of the beauty products I’ve been using. It’s a little embarrassing, but I never really cared about the kinds of products I was using up until about 2 years ago. I will be the first to say that I have a long way to go in understanding a lot about good, clean products, but in the interest of being transparent, I thought I’d let you know what I’m using so far. My reviews of these products are my honest opinions, and I’m not sponsored by any so just know I’m telling you what I really think.

*I do want to start by saying I think there is something to be said about what you eat and how you take care of your body. I’m trying to be better at both of those things!

Last thing before we get to business…I linked all I could below for your convenience 🙂

-Sunscreen: This is one product that I’ve known for a while I’ve needed to change. I’ve heard that there are a lot of yucky chemicals in many different brands. I HAVE to wear sunscreen since I have the palest skin ever. I’ve tried too many sunscreens to count. I was super excited to try the Beauty Counter sunscreen. It has not disappointed! This is the first summer that I haven’t gotten burned [well I did ONCE, but that was because I totally forgot to put sunscreen on]. It’s not at all greasy like some I’ve tried, its coverage is great and it smells awesome! Bonus: it’s completely safe on kiddos! *Disclaimer: it’s a little bit pricey, but for me, this was something I was absolutely willing to spend money on.

-Eye Cream: I have never tried eye cream before. Since having 2 kids and trying to run a business, I needed to rethink that decision haha. I again have been using the Beauty Counter eye cream and am very happy with it. I know it’s made with clean ingredients, it doesn’t feel heavy or greasy and I feel like my under-eye circles are not as bad when I use it. It covers well so you honestly don’t need much at all, meaning that it lasts a very long time.

-Deodorant:  I’ve known for some time I’ve needed to look into better deodorant. I’ve also tried quite a few products that have been a huge bust. I really like Piper Wai. It’s all good ingredients and keeps you smelling clean. I will say, I am going to try a few more brands, not because this one isn’t good, but because it’s a little expensive for deodorant in my opinion. *Tip-if I reorder this product again, I’m absolutely going to get the stick instead of the jar, purely for convenience. On that note, the jar has lasted me well over a year.

-Face care routine: I have always been a soap and water kind of girl. I never bought a face regimen before. As I’m getting a little bit older, I’ve noticed that I should probably change that. I found Bioclarity from someone I follow on instagram, and it’s a clean product that was actually a good price. So far I really like it. I like that it’s an easy process, and the products don’t feel thick or greasy. If you want to order, you can click HERE.

-Dry Shampoo: Here’s another product that I knew needed an upgrade. Being a mom of 2 and a small business owner, I NEED my dry shampoo. I ordered the Monat brand dry shampoo and so far so good. It doesn’t leave that residue in my hair like some I’ve tried, and I feel better about spraying it around my kids since it doesn’t have all those toxic chemicals. *Disclaimer: This product is a little pricey as well.

-Shampoo: The last few things I’ve been trying so far have been shampoos and hairspray. As far as shampoo goes, I still have not found one I’m in love with. I’ve been using this Abba brand so far, and I’ll say it, the jury is still out. It’s not bad at all, but for some reason, I’m not in love with it. I know everyone’s hair is different, so I’m sharing it in case you’re on the hunt for cleaner shampoo and need something to try. I know people really like it, so maybe it’s just my hair 🙂

-Texture Spray: I don’t often do my hair anymore haha, but I still want a good product for when I do. I wasn’t sure about this one at first, but after a couple times using it, I’m a fan. This Loma brand has good coverage and doesn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy.

If you’ve made it this far you’re the real MVP. My apologies for the lengthy post, but I know for me, if I’m going to spend money on cleaner products, I want to hear from someone who’s used them before.

Let me know what you think or if you have other products I should try. I haven’t changed out my makeup yet, so if you have suggestions there, leave me a comment 🙂
