Postpartum Must Haves

October 30, 2023

It’s been two months with our son, which means this is my fourth postpartum season. I absolutely do not claim to be an expert by any means, but being my fourth time, I have a few things that I really feel have helped my postpartum healing. I thought I’d share a few things that I have found beneficial.

The Elvie Catch– In the first several weeks, let down can be really strong. Everyone raves about the Hakka, which I used with baby #2. It was helpful for sure, but with baby 3, I found the Elvie catch and I liked it even better. I use it because it sits in your bra so there’s much less chance of it being kicked off by those wild baby arms and legs.

Under Eye Cream -You know those dark circles and eye bags come in strong when you’re not sleeping. It’s been an essential part of my skincare routine to use a good under eye cream. When my journey into cleaner beauty started, I tried quite a few. The Dime eye cream has been one I’ve reordered for almost 2 years now.

Ice Roller-Along similar lines, an ice roller has helped with the puffiness in my face as a result of little sleep.

Mini Fridge-I haven’t had to pump too much yet, but with collecting all the letdown during the night, I wanted to make sure it was stored properly. Instead of walking up and down the stairs multiple times during the night to put the milk away, my sister showed me this mini fridge that we bought and keep in our room.

Silver nipple shields – The real MVP if you’re nursing. I’ve been extremely lucky that I’ve been able to nurse all my babies for a year. While it’s been something that hasn’t been difficult for me, the beginning is always a little rough. This is the first time I’ve used silverettes, and dang it, I wish I had them for all my kiddos!

Coconut Water-Whether or not you decide to and/or are able to nurse, your body is healing after birth and your hormones are all over the place. It’s difficult to remember to keep hydrated, and that is where I’ve found coconut water to be beneficial. It’s packed with natural electrolytes and makes for a good addition to your postpartum care.

Stanley Cup– I know I know—how “basic.” But you know what, I don’t care haha! As I mentioned above, it’s a challenge to remember to drink the amount of water your body requires when you’re PP and/or nursing, so having a water bottle that is large enough, fits in car cupholders and keeps your water cold is key. Side note-I also prefer stainless steel or glass water bottles in my attempt to limit the amount of toxins in our home so this is a win win!

Clean Deodorant– I’ve been mentioning my favorite clean deodorant for years now. This is my ride or die product I will sing the praises of forever! There are multiple scents and I don’t feel the least bit guilty if I need to reapply a few times a day PP. *You can use KKP10 for 10% off your order*

So here you have some of my tried and true necessities. Let me know if you have any you’d add 🙂
